British 250GP star Eugene Laverty has split with his Blusens Aprilia team as he is fed up with struggling on an old bike with no hope of technical improvements in the future.
Laverty, who took his debut podium at today's World Supersport race at Vallelunga finishing third behind countryman Jonathan Rea and team-mate Broc Parkes, will not contest the rest of the 250cc season.
"On Thursday I decided to part company with my 250 team Blusens Aprilia," he said. "I had high hopes of a strong second half to my season but promised parts didn’t arrive and following big crashes in Misano and Indianapolis I realised things weren’t going to get any better. My result today proves that I made the right decision and I’m so pleased to be back on the podium.”
It is believed that Laverty is now in final negotiations for a World Supersport ride, possibly with Parkalgar Honda, Ten Kate Honda or Stiggy Honda.
