Speed Up Moto2 rider Sam Lowes will finally get the aluminium swingarm he desperately wants at the upcoming Valencia Moto2 test which replaces the incredibly stiff carbon fibre item he used last year.
The swingarm is part of a raft of changes for the Derby-based rider which also include a couple of different chassis and a change from Ohlins to WP suspension.
“I am looking forward to testing as we have the aluminium swingarm now which is the thing I have most wanted. Andrea Iannone did well on the bike a few years ago, but he had an aluminium swingarm so at least we have that. There are a few more upgrades later for the second Jerez test,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com
“There are a couple of chassis to try, one with the engine a little lower and a little lower. The carbon swingarm was the big thing, and we also have some bodywork too.
“We have changed to WP suspension as a team this year, which I am really happy about as they are trying to get into Moto2. Zarco used it last year and he got great results and if they can put it onto our chassis and do well, it will benefit.
“We will have our own technician in the garage, which we didn’t have last year. I used a shock at Monteblanco and it was good. I have been trying to use the rear brake more, not for all out braking but for the middle of the corner to settle the bike down.”
