Lowes to miss official Jerez Moto2 test after crash

Britain's Sam Lowes will miss the upcoming Jerez Moto2 test after injuring his shoulder in a crash at the Andalucian circuit earlier this week.

Lowes went down in an innocuous looking spill after his foot slipped off the peg and he landed on his right shoulder.

The EG0,0 rider travelled to the Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona for an examination by Dr Mir who confirmed a fracture and dislocation of the right shoulder. Specifically, the top of the humerus bone was fractured without displacement while the ligaments within the shoulder socket were ruptured.

"The initial recovery period will consist of rest and treatment. Lowes will then undergo radiological and ultrasound control to assess his suitability to begin active recovery," said a team statement.

"The 29-year-old is well, considering the unfortunate circumstances, and remains positive. He is keen to begin the recovery process so that he can return to work as soon as possible and give everything to Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS.

"The estimated recovery time for this type of injury is around four weeks. However, Lowes’ on-track return will depend on the healing process."
