Marc Marquez details his 'difficult' start to the Aragon Sprint Race

Gold & Goose

Spinning from his rear tyre impacted Marc Marquez's start in the Aragon Sprint Race, but he is hopeful for a solution for the Grand Prix.

The Aragon Sprint Race was Marc Marquez's seventh Sprint victory of the 2025 MotoGP season, but he had a difficult start to the 11-lap Sprint.

After qualifying on pole it looked like Marquez would dominate the Sprint from the moment the lights went out. However, the race became more interesting than that when his Ducati GP25 spun up at the start.

The Spaniard dropped back from first to fourth at the first corner and had to start chasing down his brother, who had taken the lead.

"The start made the race a bit more difficult," Marquez said after the Aragon Grand Prix Sprint Race.

"Especially with the spin, because it is something that you cannot control. Because you do not know when it is going to spin, but I think we can adjust it tomorrow, so we do not lose the positions at the start.

"It was difficult to overtake Alex [Marquez] at the start with the hot temperatures. The front tyre had overheated a bit, but we were there and we achieved it, so I am happy.

"But now I am fully focused on tomorrow [Sunday]."

For the Aragon Grand Prix, Marquez and his factory Ducati team have an idea on how to solve the spin issue at the start.

"With the start, I am one of the smallest riders on the grid, so I put a lot of my weight on the front," he explained.

"But then I do not have the weight on the rear, so I think that creates the spin, but for tomorrow we will try to adjust.

"The contact with [Pedro] Acosta, honestly speaking, I don't remember it very well right now. I think he was in front, and I was behind. This happens when somebody in front is slower and the person behind is faster, it is because of the different speeds.

"The difference in speeds makes everything more difficult, especially here at Turn One in Aragon."
