It was a Marquez Masterplan at Aragon as he returned to winning ways at his home circuit.
Marc Marquez has won a MotoGP race for the first time since Misano in 2021. The Spaniard returned to the top step of the podium at his home circuit of Aragon 1,043 days after his win in Misano.
After numerous operations and a switch from Honda to Ducati Marquez has shown that he can still fight at the front. But not only did he fight at the front, he destroyed the whole field. Marquez was 4.789 seconds clear of second place when he crossed the line.
After the race, Marquez admitted that even though he was in control the race was still not easy:
"It was an amazing race, muchas gracias Aragon! It is incredible to win in front of these amazing fans," Marquez said after his win at Aragon.
"Today was a super difficult race especially when you have the pace, but with the gap, it was difficult to fully focus on the riding, especially in the last ten laps. But I was able to manage the gap and I had more in my pocket just in case."
With eight rounds left of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship Marquez is in a good place to challenge for more victories this year. However, it seems unlikely that he will challenge Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin for the title this season.
This weekend feels like a taster of what is to come from Marquez in 2025 when he swings his leg over the red factory Ducati machine.
