A switch to World Superbikes was offered to Maverick Vinales by BMW, but he has rejected it to stay with KTM in MotoGP.
BMW have reportedly been interested in replacing the departing Toprak Razgatlioglu with a MotoGP rider, but their latest attempt has failed.
It has been suggested in the World Superbike paddock that Danilo Petrucci will move from Barni Spark Ducati to the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team next season.
This, in theory, would be a direct replacement for Razgatlioglu. However, it appears that the German manufacturer could completely change their line-up as Michael van der Mark's future is in question.
With the Dutch rider potentially on his way out of BMW, it has opened up a second bike, which BMW is using to try and draw in a current MotoGP rider.
According to Motosprint, Maverick Vinales was approached about a switch to WorldSBK on a BMW in 2026.
However, according to reports, the Spaniard has turned down a move to WorldSBK with the German manufacturer.
It is now expected that Vinales will remain within the KTM MotoGP project for the 2026 season, after debuting for the Austrian manufacturer at the start of this season.
This decision has left BMW with more work to do if they are set on replacing van der Mark after working with the Dutch rider for five years.
World Superbike Champions Jonathan Rea and Alvaro Bautista are without contracts for the 2026 season, as well as experienced Superbike riders, Andrea Iannone, Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge.
