Maverick Vinales has been declared unfit for the remainder of the Austrian Grand Prix after returning from injury.
After participating in Qualifying on Saturday morning at the Austrian Grand Prix, Maverick Vinales has been declared unfit for the remainder of the weekend.
The Spaniard came back from a shoulder injury sooner than expected for KTM's home round, but will not be able to participate in the Sprint or Grand Prix.
Despite being declared fit on Thursday afternoon, Vinales underwent a second medical check after the Q1 session and was then declared unfit.
A statement on Red Bull KTM Tech3's social media read:
"Even if he tried to give it another go this morning, the pain in his left shoulder was too intense.
"Another medical check declared Maverick Vinales unfit for the remainder of the Austrian Grand Prix.
"The recovery continues for Mav as we hope to see him again very soon."
Vinales had been struggling in terms of lap times throughout the weekend as he found himself at the back end of the field in every session.
The Spaniard only completed six laps on Friday afternoon in hopes of saving himself for the Sprint Race on Saturday afternoon.
However, he has ultimately returned to racing too early and will be back on the sidelines. With the Hungarian Grand Prix coming up next weekend, it is unknown if he will be replaced at Balaton Park or whether he will attempt to race again.
