Marco Simoncelli's memory will be further inked into history with the news that the Misano World circuit will be dedicated to the MotoGP rider who was killed in an accident at Sepang two weeks ago.

The board of Santamonica SpA, which owns the track, took the decision last night to link the track with Simoncelli, who lived only a few kilometres away.

"We owe it to the memory of Sic his family, to the hundreds of thousands of fans who admired the courage and humanity, the many personalities from the sports world and media that gave voice to this true and its popular movement, spontaneous and moving. We are so happy and proud to associate the track with Marco Simoncelli Misano, a champion in sport and in life," said spokesman Luke Colaiacovo.
