Monster Energy Yamaha had a disappointing season opener and are looking to right their wrongs in Argentina.

After a disappointing weekend in Thailand, the factory Yamaha squad are 'very motivated' for the second round of the season.

The Monster Energy Yamaha squad had higher expectations for the opening round of the 2025 MotoGP season. After a promising pre-season, they were expected to be fighting towards the front, but this did not materialise in Thailand.

Fabio Quartararo finished seventh in the Thai Sprint Race, but finished 15th in the Grand Prix and scored four points across the weekend.

The 2021 MotoGP World Champion has never done particularly well at Termas de Rio Hondo and has a best MotoGP result of seventh from 2023.

"The Thai GP was quite extreme in terms of temperature, especially on the race day," Quartararo stated.

"But we learned from the situation, and now we focus on the Argentina GP. We haven't been at the Termas track in a while, so I'm sure the fans there are very happy that we're back again.

"In the past, this hasn't been an easy track for me, but, as always, we will give it our all to do a good job."

Alex Rins struggled more than his teammate at the opening race of the season. The Spaniard finished 17th in the Sprint Race and Grand Prix at the Chang International Circuit.

Rins has had a good level of success at the Argentine Grand Prix in MotoGP as he has featured on the podium twice.

"Yamaha have gone over all the Thai GP data of the first round, and now we go to Argentina," Rins added.

"On Friday, we will need to focus on managing the grip because it will be low, but this will improve throughout the weekend and then let's see where we stand.

"For sure, we never stop pushing, also off track. We are very motivated to keep working and doing whatever it takes to improve."
