Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner has softened his line on travelling to the Motegi MotoGP round in October, downgrading the stance from 'I'm not going' to 'I am thinking about it' but he has stated it will his decision and he won't bow to outside pressures.

Stoner initally decided not to go because he found out wife Adriana was pregnant but now the 2007 world champion is digesting all the information he can, a lot provided by Australian scientists and the government, before a decision is made.

"We're in a lot of talks with a lot of people to find out different things. We've talked to the Australian government, scientists, people they trust very well. This is something I didn't want to take up with a report from someone else. No-one has explained anything particularly well so that's why we wanted to find out," said Stoner, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"We have got a lot more information and detailed descriptions of what it is like out there and what the situation is in comparison to everyday life. I'm still not convinced but I'm more open and I am willing to talk more about the possibility of going but Adriana will definitely not be going and I will be spending the minimal time possible if I did go.

"Day by day it is become clearer and there is a lot more information they can give us but at the same time there are still things turning up so I'm not 100 per cent convinced. Honda have been talking to me about it but it wouldn't matter to me what anybody said, this is a decision for me, Adriana and the family, it won't be anyone putting pressure on us, it will be our decision whether it is safe for me to go or not."
