MotoGP Aragon: Power cut forces second practice cancellation

An intermittent power failure has forced MotoGP organisers to cancel the second MotoGP and Moto2 free practice sessions at Motorland Aragon this afternoon. Mains lectricity keeps cutting in and out which means essential systems including medical equipment cannot be relied upon. The sessions will be rescheduled tomorrow.

Tomorrow altered sessions will be: MotoGP 9.35am to 10.50am and Moto2 11am to 12.15pm.

"We had a transformer that broke. It was not due to heat, it was only working to 42 per cent of its capacity and it just broke. The power is constant here, you can have some differentials but the parameters were absolutely normal," said a track spokesman.

"We have a main and a backup system. We prepared everything to get the second one ready and, during the 125 session, we saw it was not completely stable and was not working properly. The safety of the of the riders is first and we could not take risks. We have a similar transformer coming from Alcaniz to replace the defective one."
