Esponsorama Ducati's Johann Zarco will start Sunday's second MotoGP race in Austria from the pitlane after being found guilty of irresponsible riding last weekend.
Zarco was involved in a 200mph collision with Franky Morbidelli at the Red Bull Ring which also nearly took out Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.
MotoGP's FIM Steward panel made a decision yesterday about whether Zarco was at fault in the crash but chose not to make any announcement until today.
The statement reads:
After the incident during the Austrian GP MotoGP™ race involving Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing) and Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) that brought out the Red Flag, the FIM MotoGP™ Stewards Panel held hearings on Thursday the 20th of August with both riders involved.
After evaluation it was determined that there was evidence of irresponsible riding from Johann Zarco, which has resulted in a penalty. The Frenchman will start his next MotoGP™ race from pitlane.
