MotoGP bosses have today announced new testing rules for the 2014 season in order to stop private sessions like the one organised by Honda at Austin.
Effective from November 11 this year, there will be one three-day official test between the Valencia round and November 30. There will then be the usual test ban from December 1 to January 31.
Following that, three official three-day tests will be organised before the start of the season and then three more one-day tests during the season in Europe.
As a caveat, test riders, as opposed to contracted riders, will continue to be allowed to test for development purposes at any time and circuit using the test tyre allocation available to each team.
This will also apply to contracted riders of CRT category teams, subject to approval of testing at a Grand Prix circuit being granted by Race Direction in advance of the test.
