Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi has explained what happened in his MotoGP free practice four crash this afternoon and says that he is fortunate not to have broken the little finger on his left hand.
The Doctor, who had to go and see the doctor, lost the front into turn 11 and got his hand tangled in the bike but after an X-ray, he said the finger is not broken. Rossi had set the fastest time of the session before the crash.
“This morning I was quite fast but we still have some problem. For the afternoon, we modify the bike and I think the most positive thing today was my rhythm and pace in free practice four as I did a big improvement and I feel good,” said the Italian, speaking at the track.
“Unfortunately, I did a mistake as I try hard to push the pace, I was quite fast as it was a good lap. I haven’t seen the data but I think I brake too deep and I wad one metre more wide so I crash.
“Unfortunately, I hit the finger, the gloves was open and I injure my small finger. I was worried because I get a lot of pain and I think the finger was broken and if it was, after it would become difficult to ride as I have tried in the past.
“Especially with the bumps, if you have a small fracture, it is a lot of pain. Fortunately, we make the X-ray and it isn’t broken. Is bad, is damaged so I hope I don’t have any problem in the race tomorrow.”
