MotoGP title contender Maverick Vinales missed out on a top-ten spot on the opening day of free practice at Brno as he says he is unable to turn his Movistar Yamaha M1 and that it is proving difficult to stop as well.
The young Spaniard is baffled by the problem after a good showing in the wet this morning, where he ended in sixth place, but it is not known which chassis he used this afternoon as he has both the 2017 chassis and the Barcelona test update in his garage this weekend.
“I don’t know why, I cannot turn with the bike, it’s so difficult to make the laptime. Maybe the conditions of today or the grip was not so good, this problem becomes bigger. I cannot turn the bike and it’s difficult to stop,” said Vinales, speaking at Brno.
“We have to try to find out the problem with the bike, because it’s very difficult to ride the bike like that and even to go fast. I never felt like that on the Yamaha before, so we have to understand which area is the problem.
“We need to solve these issues and try to work even harder. We really don’t know which area is causing the problem, if we knew we would improve it. The bike is not working at its 100% and we have to try to find out why.”
