Monster Yamaha's Colin Edwards has broken his right collarbone in a crash during the second MotoGP free practice at Montmelo this afternoon and will take no further part in this weekend's activities. He fell at the slow-speed turn five on an out lap, landed on his shoulder and was taken to the medical centre.
The grid for tomorrow's race is now down to 15 riders and that number will more than likely not increase for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone next weekend as Dani Pedrosa will probably use that weekend to recover from his bust collarbone.
Edwards has gone to the Dexeus Institute Hospital in Barcelona where he will undergo surgery performed by Dr Xavier Mir, who has previously treated Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo.
