Reigning MotoGP World Champion has adopted a pragmatic attiude towards today’s qualifying crash at the Catalunya MotoGP round and the end of his all-conquering streak of pole positions.
The Repsol Honda man lost the front on his last push for top spot but put his hands up, saying he knew he had braked too late but, as it was the final chance, he decided to try anyway but ended in the kitty litter.
“We check a little bit the new tyre and saw the potential is in the first lap. I was confident with the last tyre because with the first two tyres I was not very happy about my lap but it’s impossible to be the fastest all the time. We are in MotoGP with Jorge, Dani, Valentino, many good riders and you can’t be the fastest all the time,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.
“It was my fault, the team did a perfect strategy. With the last tyre, I brake too late, I knew I brake too late but it was the last lap so I say OK, we try, we go in and was not possible,” said Marquez, speaking at the track.
“We have a good rhythm, a good pace and I think like Mugello we are very, very close with Jorge, Dani and Valentino. It will be a tough race, especially in the last laps but we can fight for the victory.”
