MotoGP Catalunya: 'No pain, no chatter' for Edwards

NGM Foward's Colin Edwards has returned to his CRT MotoGP bike at Catalunta this weekend and after the two free practice session isn't feeling any pain from his injured collarbone. As a bonus, using a different BMW engine has eliminated the chatter that was blighting the Texan's season.

Edwards missed the Le Mans round after breaking his collarbone at Estoril. Chris Vermuelen was the stand-in rider and some engine setup alterations the Aussie found have allowed some progress. Edwards then used a different engine spec which got rid of the chatter so he was able to lengthen the bike and raise the ride height to get front to back weight transfer, meaning he can now start to use all the power.

“My collarbone feels good, it’s still a bit tender to touch but when I put my leathers on today I honestly didn’t feel it, I don’t have any pain, no problem there. Today we started off with what we had at Portugal, some engine mapping changes with what the team found with Chris at Le Mans, which was an improvement," said Edwards.

"This afternoon we went out with bike two, which has a different engine spec and we had zero chatter. We were able to go longer, lifted it up to get a little more transfer. I am excited that we can go long and not have any chatter and actually use the power that we have. The problems was that we had to go so short to get rid of the chatter and we couldn’t use the power and now that has changed a little bit so feeling a bit happy about that. It's not going to be easy work but the bike being a bit longer makes it a bit easier on me.”
