MotoGP Catalunya: Rea looks for Spanish redemption

Gresini Moto2 rider Gino Rea is looking for some redemption at this weekend's Catalan round after being taken out of a front-running spot in France by an errant Johann Zarco.

The Londoner had made his way from the back of the grid in damp conditions to challenge for a podium early in the Le Mans encounter only to find himself in the gravel after he and Zarco were in collision at the Dunlop Curve.

“It was a real shame that I got taken out of the Le Mans race because we could have been on the podium but we have to take the positives and move on. To go from 24th on the grid to third position during the race was nice and it was good to show that when we have the bike working well, we can run at the front of this fiercely competitive class," said Rea.

"I am looking forward to Catalunya now and I hope we can continue development with the bike so that I can be closer to the front in the dry conditions. We have something different to try in terms of suspension, so I hope this helps us take a step in the right direction. I have never been to the Catalunya circuit before so it's another thing I must learn before we can set the bike up to the track. I will study it as much as I can on the videos from now until the race weekend.”
