Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi is unsure of just how fast he will be able to go in the early part of tomorrow’s Catalunya MotoGP as he hasn’t found a good setting on new tyres during free practice.
The Doctor struggled with his setting on new rubber and a change made it worse, so his team will make adjustments overnight and see if something can be done in morning warm-up. Rossi believes it will be hard to stay with the all-Spanish front row even though his pace is not a million miles away from team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.
“Here the three Spaniards are very strong, the two Hondas are very fast, Marc as always but also today but in this track especially Dani and Jorge is also able to ride a bit faster than me,” said Rossi, speaking at the track.
“There is not a big difference in the pace but he is able to go a bit faster in the last section so I think tomorrow will bevery hard to stay together with the top three because they are in their home GP and in great shape.
“We have to improve something, especially in the last sector because I am not able to make the right line that I want. I need to modify something for the bike. I am in trouble in the last two corners and also in turn eight.
“The feeling at the front is not fantastic, it move around quite a lot on entry, I am not able to turn more for make the right line and I lose a little bit.
“We try something during free practice with the new tyre for improve the rear grip because here is a big problem for grip but unfortunately it doesn’t work very well because I lose corner speed so we go back.
“I don’t know exactly my potential with the new tyres so we wait for tomorrow. It will be hard because all three are very strong and for try to beat them we have to do a bit better."
