Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner has continued his dominance of MotoGP free practice at Barcelona, setting the fastest time in the third and final session with a 1'42.691 but a late charge by Jorge Lorenzo saw him cut the Aussie's advantage to 0.122s.
Lorenzo went round in 1'42.813 on his 18th lap while team-mate Ben Spies pulled himelf into fourth place late on with a 1'43.478. The Yamahas are splitting the Honda's nicely with Marco Simoncelli's Gresini bike in third on a 1'43.130 and Andrea Dovizioso, on the remaining Repsol bike, in fifth but nearly a second off the pace.
Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi had a spill going into turn five, losing the front but he walked away from the incident and was back out on is second bike moments later. He set a 1'44.364 early in the session but couldn't improve on his eighth place.
Team-mate Nicky Hayden is sixth on a 143.669, good considering his race number, while Monster Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow is one place behind him on a 1'43.883 and is a little over a second off the pace. Loris Capirossi got off the floor from a crash in the same place as his compatriot to go ninth while Alvaro Bautista is tenth on the Rizla Suzuki.
