MotoGP Estoril: Moto2 disappointment for Redding, Smith

Both Scott Redding and Bradley Smith suffered disappointment this morning's Estoril Moto2 race with Redding nerfed off by an errant Marc Marquez while Smith pulled in with a mechanical problem on lap 16.

The MarcVDS man was under pressure from Spaniard Marquez for eighth place when the reigning 125cc world champion tried to pass him down the inside, lost the front and took them both into the gravel trap. He re-mounted to finish in 25th while Smith had a mechanical failure and was seen thumping the tank in disappointment. The Oxfordshire man re-joined the race but finished two laps in arrears. Kev Goghlan didn't make the start.

The race was won by Stefan Bradl, who increases his championship lead, with Julian Simon second and Yuki Takahashi in a distant third after leader Andrea Iannone crashed with four laps to go.
