Britain’s Bradley Smith says he has nine MotoGP races left to prove that he deserves a place in the Monster Yamaha team for 2015 and that only he can make that happen.
The Oxfordshire youngster has shown some explosive pace in practice over the season so far but hasn’t yet managed to translate that into consistent results and has had more than his fair share of crashes too.
“The next nine races starting on Sunday are crucial to my future as a MotoGP rider. I’m really up for it and know what I’ve got to do. My injuries have healed well and it’s down to me and me only to prove to everybody I deserve a place in the team. The pace has been there all season and I’ve just to relate that into race results starting at Indianapolis,” said Smith.
Smith goes into this weekend’s Indianapolis MotoGP round amid huge speculation he will be replaced in the Herve Poncharal-owned squad next season but by whom is a subject of even bigger guesswork.
