Marlboro Ducati's Nicky Hayden will have to wait until his first MotoGP race of the season on American soil next weekend to make his debut on the GP11.1 as a lack of parts and 'other little reasons' mean he can't ride it at the Sachsenring.
The 2006 world champion said it was wishful thinking that he could ride it in Germany before rolling into Laguna Seca and both of his versions are with the team this week but he will now have to wait to race it in front of his home fans.
"That was me being wishful, not something Ducati told me was going to happen. I hoped for it but it didn't happen. The bikes are here and more or less ready but it's a matter of spare parts and engine mileage and other little reasons why we aren't going to roll them out, " said Hayden, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"It would have been nice to get on it and get a feel for it. The sooner I get to working on it the better and we would be better off for Laguna instead of going there with something I don't know but I'm grateful I am getting the bike as I didn't know when, or if at all.
"I have spoken to Valentino and it is clear it does a couple of things better but I haven't ridden that bike so I can't really say. He is happier with the rear of the bike, the data shows the transmission is better but the front, which seems to be our problem, is the same. It's still a young bike that needs more time."
