MotoGP Germany: Lorenzo beats Stoner even with arm-pump

Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo managed to slide underneath MotoGP championship leader Casey Stoner at the last corner of Sunday's Sachsenring race even though he had been suffering from arm-pump brought on by an old two-stroke habit.

Lorenzo spent so long with one finger hovering over the clutch in case of a seizure, he is unable to stop doing it on a four-stroke and the seven right-handers at the German track meant he was putting more stress than usual into his left arm which brought on the compartmental syndrome.

"The forearm of the left side was the big problem today for not fight with Dani bit it was important the way I found some force to finish the race at the end and to be fast on the last laps and to not let Casey go," said Lorenzo.

"You stay a long time on the left, seven corners and it's why I have a big hand! I need to put all the pressure. When you ride in 125s you are scared the engine will break and you will fly and I can't throw away the habit. I try to change the habit but the bike goes wide.

"It try to take if off during the race, which is not a very good time to try it and I found I only made two corners like that and it was impossible. I think we will struggle every year here. On the last lap Casey stopped the bike a lot two corners from the end so I took profit from it, opened full throttle and in the last corner I went for it. It was a miracle pass!"
