Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has taken his second MotoGP race win of the year this afternoon at the Sachsenring despite saying he doesn't expect to be fully fit for another couple of weekends while team-mate Casey Stoner was mugged for second into the last corner by Jorge Lorenzo.
Spaniard Pedrosa took the lead from compatriot Lorenzo with nine laps to go, getting better drive from the last corner and passing the Yamaha as they crossed the start/finish line, eventually pulling a gap of 1.5s before the chequered flag came out.
Stoner took the final podium spot and only lost out to the championship leader by less than a tenth of a second while the third Repsol bike of Andrea Dovizioso fended off a late charge by Ben Spies to finish in fourth.
Spies had got away with the leaders but faded towards half-distance. As is usual, the Texas then came back strong as the laps clicked down and went past Marco Simoncelli to nick fifth as he managed to find grip where the Italian couldn't.
While the action was fairly, erm, actionless at the front, there was a titanic scrap for seventh for most of the 30-lapper between the two Marlboro Ducatis of Valentino Rossi and and Nicky Hayden, Alvaro Bautista and Monster Yamaha's Colin Edwards.
Bautista nabbed seventh ahead of Hayden on the final lap while Rossi could do nothing about the Suzuki's surprising pace out of the final turn. Edwards rounded out the top ten as he drifted off the back of that battle towards the end.
Britain's Cal Crutchlow faded to 14th place behind Hector Barbera, Karel Abraham and Randy De Puniet.
