Factory Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo has called for the whole of the Indianapolis track to be resurfaced after problems with tyre graining and grip inconsistencies made it 'very easy to crash'.
The reigning world champion could only limp to fourth in Sunday's race, overtaken by team-mate Ben Spies in the latter stages who had no such front-tyre problems in coming back from being ninth at the end of lap one.
"I am disappointed with the performance of the tarmac. I don't like it. I has improved every session but if you make a mistake it's very dangerous and very easy to crash. The track is not the best new track that I try. Quite simple, they need to put a new tarmac," said Lorenzo, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"The Jerez tarmac is one of the best I try, it is really good, also the Mugello tarmac so to put a similar tarmac here will solve the problem. We saw so many riders with tyre problems this weekend, they never solved it. Some riders have no problem with graining, it's difficult to understand. Hopefully, at the next tracks they have different tarmac."
