MotoGP Jerez: ‘It’s like a kart track’ - Redding

Go&Fun Honda’s Scott Redding has noticed a massive difference between riding Jerez on a Moto2 bike and a full-blown MotoGP bike, and says it feels like being on a kart track.

The Gloucestershire rider is having to alter his riding style to cope with the tight and twisty Spanish track but reckons he will be able to bridge the gap to Nicky Hayden which is currently over a second.

“It feels like there are no straights, the back straight, the longest straight, it’s like that, you know, you’re done, you change two gears and you’re in the braking so it really feels like a kart circuit, really narrow, but we have only ridden big circuits this year so it is different and I just need to change my riding style a bit,” said Redding, speaking at Jerez.

“It’s in the braking areas and stuff and where I tip in for the line. I’m lifting the rear a lot under braking so I need to keep the rear down. I’m a little bit aggressive because I want it too much. On this track, you think you can but I don’t think you can.

"At the moment we are struggling with rear traction: we’ll try to solve this problem tomorrow, because here you have a lot of long corners, so you need to have a good rear feeling."
