MotoGP Jerez: Marquez on pole with Redding 12th

Spanish wunderkind Marc Marquez set Moto2 pole position at Jerez this afternoon with a lap time that was only a tenth slower than Valentino Rossi in MotoGP qualifying just 20 minutes earlier.

The Repsol-backed teenager went round in 1'43.005 compared to Rossi's 1'42.961 on the factory Ducati while Takaaki Nakagami was just a tenth further back with Pol Espargaro completing the front row on a 1'43.276.

MarcVDS man Scott Redding was the best of the British riders, finishing in 12th place after crashing late on in an incident which also involved Swede Alexander Lundh who rides for the MZ squad.
