Rain showers at Jerez have halted any meaningful on-track activity in the MotoGP class this morning with only a handful of riders getting in any track time in first free practice as the circuit was too wet for slicks but not really wet enough for wets.
Tyre allocation rules come into play in these conditions as each rider only has four sets of wets for the whole weekend, so they won't waste rubber chewing it up on a not-wet-enough track which will not net them any useful data. Stefan Bradl and and Alavaro Bautista were the only prototype riders to put in a lap.
