MotoGP Jerez: Rossi to race new chassis

Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi has revealed he will race the new chassis he has been testing at the Jerez MotoGP round as it helps with stability while his YZR-M1 is under heavy braking.

The Doctor wouldn’t be drawn into any specific details but said the new parts had given his technicians a new way to work for the future. It also resulted in fourth on the grid, Rossi’s best qualifying performance this year.

“Is something for improve the stability in braking. We suffer a little because we put the front tyre a bit too much under stress. Is a small difference but is a idea to understand the way to work. Anyway, I like and I will use tomorrow,” said Rossi, speaking at Jerez.

“I am quite satisfied as it is the best qualify of the season. I wanted to try for the first row for sure and I know it is difficult with the top guys but I was not very far from Pedrosa. I am quite competitive in the practice and sectors.

“It looks like Jorge is a little bit faster and I spin too much on acceleration so tomorrow we will try improve the setting and also will be very important to understand about the front tyre because there are a lot riders in between the 1’33 and 1’34, so we will wait tomorrow for the temperature to decide the front tyre.”
