Monster Yamaha boss Massimo Meregalli admitted he had been expecting a significant upgrade to the factory M1 for yesterday’s Jerez MotoGP test but only slight tweaks were in evidence for Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.
Both riders are still suffering with grip as tyres wear and it has been hoped that something either mechanical or electronic would be present for them to try.
“We have found some small improvements that can be used for the next GP in Le Mans. In all honesty, we expected something more significant but, in any case, another step was taken,” said Meregalli.
Vinales was able to find a 1’37.226 in the test while Rossi was eight-tenths slower but it is thought neither went for a soft-tyre time attack lap.
“We didn’t find something that changed our life, but some small details that we will use in the next races,” said The Doctor.
