Caixa Repsol's Marc Marquez has won his first Moto2 race at the Le Mans MotoGP round in France this morning after scything his way through the pack to lead with only a handful of laps to go.
The reigning 125cc World Champion passed Thomas Luthi for the lead with five laps to go and promptly put a second into the chasing pack in one lap. He crossed the line with a little less than two seconds to play with.
Luthi, series leader Stefan Bradl and Yuki Takahashi scrapped it out for the podium spots. The German took second with two laps to go but Takahashi was straight back past as Julian Simon joined the group as they held themselves up.
Takahashi bagged third with Bradl third whileSimon got ahead of Luthi for fourth. Britain's Bradley Smith scored solid points in ninth while Scott Redding ended the race in 16th after having rear grip and gear selector problems. Kev Coghlan finished in 27th.
