This morning’s Le Mans Moto3 race has been stopped after more than half the field crashed on fluid at the La Chapelle corner on lap two.
Adam Norrodin went down on lap one at Dunlop, re-mounted but dropped fluid down the hill through La Chapelle and the leaders went crashed as soon as they hit it. Championship leader Joan Mir - in third place - was first to fall followed by Jorge Martin in second and the race leader Romano Fenati.
As the pack came through, they fell like skittles with only Fabio Di Giannanntonio the only one of the front-runners to make it through unscathed. Nico Antonelli and Nico Bulega both got caught by flying machinery with the SKY VR46 rider going to the medical centre but he was given the all clear.
It will bring about another discussion as to whether crashed bikes should be allowed to re-start. MCE British Superbike race director Stuart Higgs is on the FIM Stewards panel this weekend and he instigated a rule against this some time ago.
