MotoGP Le Mans: Stoner handed big fine for punching De Puniet

Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner has been given a €5000 fine by MotoGP race direction at Le Mans after he punched Randy De Puniet on the left shoulder when the Frenchman moved across his line while getting out of the way of another rider and 'adjusting his brake lever' on the run into Garage Vert.

Stoner whacked the Pramac Ducati man and the pair were immediately hauled before the stewards who removed the money from Stoner's wallet. De Puniet is, apparently, shocked that Stoner was given the penalty while Cal Crutchlow's Tweeted his opinion thus: "Before people start with Stoner they don't know what it's like when your doing 300kph down a straight and the guy in front is doing 100kph. He may have been getting out the way but if you are on a slow lap be completely out the way!
