Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez believes that Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo is the biggest obstacle he will have to overcome in order to claim a second successive title at Motegi tomorrow.
The Spanish youngster had to contend with a troublesome engine in free practice three this morning and just couldn’t get it all together to claim another pole position in qualifying, so he starts next to Lorenzo on row two at the Japanese track.
“Everything is more difficult, I don’t know why. Yesterday with the brake problem and today with the problem in FP3. This afternoon, I was able to fight for the pole but in the third run we had a small problem but I am happy as we improve a lot. I am riding well, I feel comfortable,” said Marquez, speaking at Motegi.
“For tomorrow, I feel the strongest one will be Lorenzo, who is fifth and behind me but for the rhythm he is the strongest one so we will try to do our best but we feel ready to fight for the victory. We aren’t in the best position for the title as Dani and Valentino are in front of me and I need to finish in front of them but we will do our best.”
