Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi remains at a loss for answers to why he cannot make the GP11.1 work after ending today's MotoGP qualifying session at Mugello in 12th at a track he says he is very fast on next year's 1000cc incarnation.

Rossi suffered with electrical problems on both bikes yesterday and only had 45 minutes of practice this morning, without the help of Jerry Burgess, to try to find the answer to his lack of front-end feel. He didn't solve any problems and says he has no corner entry speed.

"For sure the conditions is not good for working on the new bike and I think with a normal qualifying we can be a bit more in front, like this morning, seventh or eighth but anyway it is not enough. I have always the same problem in the front, I don't feel very much the front tyre so I am slow to enter the corner and this is the place where I lose a lot of time," said Rossi.

"We had hoped in Mugello we could stay more close to the top but the gap is so big and the same as the other tracks so will be hard. For tomorrow we have some other settings and options so we hope we have chance to try ion full dry or full wet.

"It is possible to improve the setup of this bike. We have not had a lot of time because yesterday morning we lose because of problems and today because of the rain so we only had 45 minutes but we don't improve a lot.

"The bigger question is with the 1000 here I was fastest. Not just on the straight with the power but also in a lot of corners. We don't understand because it is the same bike so we have to try to discover. With Jerry here it is better but we still have problems with stuff on the bike."
