MotoGP Mugello: Marquez continues pole record

Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez has continued his MotoGP pole streak today at Mugello, setting a 1'47.270 with Open class Ducati man Andrea Iannone second and Movistar Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo in third place.

Marquez continues to prove untouchable in the blue riband class with a lap that was just a tenth slower than team-mate Dani Pedrosa's circuit best of 1'47.157 but the elder Spaniard only managed to bag fourth place after topping this morning's fourth free practice session.

Valentino Rossi had tough session, slipping from fourth to tenth place in the dying minutes. The Doctor is only half a second off the pace but has a lot of work to do from the fourth tomorrow in Italy.

Monster Yamaha's Pol Espargaro had another crash right at the end of the session, making a skip job of his M1 at Arrabiata with only a couple of minutes to go but he had earlier done enough to secure fifth place, just ahead of Britain's Cal Crutchlow.

Bradley Smith is one place behind his former team-mate with Andrea Dovizioso and Stfan Bradl completing the third row. Alvaro Bautista and Aleix Espargaro are behind Rossi with Scott Redding in 14th.
