Moto3 World Championship favourite Jorge Martin produced a qualifying masterclass to secure his fourth consecutive pole position.
The Spaniard who has topped every session so far this weekend eased into the session, taking over from his team-mate Fabio Di Giannantonio midway through the session before spending nearly twenty minutes sat in his Gresini pitbox.
Despite nobody eclipsing the time he set earlier in the session, Martin went back onto track in the closing stages to further cement his pole position with a 1’56.634, just two hundredths of a second off the outright lap record set by Danny Kent in 2015.
The World Championship favourite will be joined on the front row by the Japanese duo of Tatsuki Suzuki and Ayumu Sasaki. Much like Martin, Suzuki posted his fastest time in the middle of the session, aided by a two-bike slipstream from Dennis Foggia and Philipp Oettl.
Sasaki was also the beneficiary of a slipstream, stealing the final front row spot from his slipstream provider, Aron Canet as the chequered flag waved. World Championship leader Marco Bezzechi was once again top KTM and Di Giannantonio will round out the second row.
Niccolo Anoteli will head the third row with Adam Norrodin, Marcos Ramirez and Kaito Toba rounding out the top ten.
The RBA Boe Skull Rider duo of Kazuki Masaki and Gabriel Robrigo were eleventh and twelfth respectively whilst Enea Bastianini and his Leopard Honda will be sandwiched by KTM's in the shape of Jaume Masia and Andrea Migno on the fifth row.
Nico Bulega’s quiet start to the season continued as he will start in 16th with Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Tony Arbolino ,John McPhee and Philipp Oetll rounded out the top 20 with Oetll just 1.003 second behind the fastest time of the session set by Martin and eight tenths off the front row.
