MotoGP Mugello: Pedrosa calls for Simoncelli ban

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has called for Marco Simoncelli to be banned for two races and has said he will no longer rely on race direction to protect him from the actions of errant riders.

And he finally gave his account of the accident at Le Mans that effectively ended his championship challenge, saying that Simoncelli, who left tonight's Safety Commission meeting with a red face, wasn't in control when he went past the Spanish rider.

"His penalty (for the Pedrosa incident) was ridiculous. It is obvious he doesn't learn. It should be a ban for one or more races. It is obvious race direction cannot supply good safety so you must look after yourself. Next time I am with him I will decide what to do but I will not be nice," said the Spaniard.

"Simoncelli overtook me on the previous corner, then I overtook him on the straight and then I didn't close the door on the outside because I pass him before the braking so I thought if I move to the right I would block him and he has no space to brake or come around me.

"When we were going in, I see someone closing in and going in front of me and that was it. He just release the brakes and he was on the outside, I has the preference on the inside, he should have to wait for me to go first . In my opinion he was nuts on this point because he had better rhythm than me and maybe take second in that race.

"He was on the outside and had not the right to go over me but he didn't make the corner so it shows he wasn't right."
