Ducati's Valentino Rossi has backed Marc Marquez's move into the Repsol Honda team which was announced this morning, saying it is the best move for a rookie to make.

Rossi said he believes Marquez to be a very fast rider and that he is able to win races even when he isn't the quickest rider on the track.

"I like a lot Marquez, I think he is very young but demonstrate already he have the potential for to become a world champion in the future in MotoGP. He is strong, fast and also sometimes he won the difficult races where he wasn't the fastest on the track. This is so important and that he arrives to the Repsol Honda team is fantastic for a rookie, it is the best way. So, we are waiting for him," said Rossi, speaking at the pre-event press conference.
