MotoGP Phillip Island: 'Title chances slim this weekend' says Stoner

Repsol Honda's Casey Stoner goes into this weekend's Phillip Island MotoGP round with one hand on the 2011 title. He needs to score 10 more points than Jorge Lorenzo to wrest the number one plate from the Spaniard, who has already said he thinks Stoner is 'invincible' at his home track.

Stoner is looking down the barrel of his fifth straight win in his native Australia but he is playing down his chances of winning the title this weekend, saying they are between slim and none.

"My chances of taking this championship this weekend are very slim to almost none, for Jorge to finish fourth or worse and I have to win the race so for me it the most important to win the race like I wanted to in Japan last time," said Stoner, speaking to the pre-event press conference.

"Most people enjoy their home grand prix. Of course, it adds a little bit of stress with more things to do but we're looking forward to it. It's the first time here with the Honda so we will see how we do. The last four years have been pretty successful.

"I like the track, it suits me and I think the bike should work really well but until we get out there on Friday, hopefully in the dry, and get it all started we won't know. The season has been fantastic so far and we'll be looking to continue this momentum.

"If we can top it off with a win in Phillip Island, my home Grand Prix it would be a dream. It will be a long hard weekend, and there is still a lot of work to do to win the Championship, but we're ready for it."
