Reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez is concerned about his fitness over a full MotoGP race distance as he is having to compensate for a still-broken left leg with his right arm and believes tomorrow Qatar race could be difficult.
The Repsol Honda man stormed to his tenth career pole today after finding a setup tweak in free practice four. He reckons his settings still need some work and he hasn’t yet chosen on which tyre he will race.
“In FP4 we did a step and looked like we found a way to improve the rhythm but this pole position makes me happy because after the injury and everything, I get more confidence every practice and tomorrow will be a hard race, we have many riders in one tenth,” said the Spaniard, speaking at Qatar.
“It will be hard for me at the end of the race because with the leg I am struggling a bit, I don’t have a lot of power and automatically I use more the right arm and it is getting tired. Over a long distance it will be hard but I will try to do a great race.
“I did some laps and tried some tyres in FP4 and I was quite happy. Tomorrow on the warm-up we need to fix some problems and choose the best tyre as we are not on the perfect set-up. It’s quite important to be here on the front row after lose the pre-season time.”
