MotoGP rookie Fabio Quartararo has targeted a points score at this weekend’s Qatar opener as the very least he hopes to achieve in his debut blue riband outing.
The young Frenchman, who blasted to second fastest in the Losail test a week ago, is rightly full of confidence as he enters the lion’s den alongside two other debutants in the shape of Joan Mir and Pecco Bagnaia.
“I am feeling confident about my first challenge as a MotoGP rider. It is always good to arrive at a circuit where you have already tested,” said Quartararo.
“For me, a good result would be to score points in the first round of the season but looking at how I felt in the Qatar test I want more than that. I also know that I have to stay calm and focused to have a good race and see what result we can manage.”
Quartaro ended the Qatar test only two-tenths off quickest man Maverick Vinales aboard the 2019-spec factory Yamaha M1.
