MotoGP Qatar: Sensor problems ‘frustrate’ Redding

Go&Fun Honda’s Scott Redding had to use his spare bike in yesterday’s final MotoGP qualifying session at Qatar after a sensor problem was cutting in his traction control on the fast straights.

But the former Moto2 front runner shrugged it off, jumped on his second bike - which he hadn’t used until that point - and went half a second faster than his previous best to grab 16th on the grid.

“We had a problem with a sensor which was setting off the tractional control, so every time I was on the straight at high rpm, it kept cutting the engine. I came in, I went out, it was the same so I went out on the spare bike,” said Redding, speaking at Qatar.

“I haven’t done any laps on that bike and I did my fastest lap. I am a little frustrated I couldn’t get more out of it but we’re not too far from the other guys on the grid. I dropped my laptime by half a second from yesterday which is already a jump.

“The race is going to be long, we will have to see how it goes with the soft tyre, which I will use for the first time and we will try the hard in the future. We know what the problem was so we’re are ready.”
