MotoGP Sepang: Lowes battles massive chatter

Britain’s Sam Lowes had to battle massive chatter in today’s Sepang MotoGP Moto2 qualifying session that was so bad it was causing problems in a straight line but he still managed to finish in 15th place.

The former World Supersport Champion had to pick up a tow for his fastest lap as he the vibration meant couldn’t concentrate properly and his Speed Up team are yet to find a reason despite changing tyres and a clutch.

“After yesterday I was feeling really confident but even in a straightline we had really big vibration which we can’t get to the bottom of. That vibration is causing a lot of chatter and I thought in the first half of the session it was going to be a disaster,” said Lowes, speaking at Sepang.

“We changed the tyres and everything we could to try and fix it but it something other than that. Hopefully we can find it overnight. I’m 15th and 0.9s and I don’t even know how I did that lap. I had to find someone as on my own I couldn’t concentrate.

“I was really struggling with it but in this class to have that problem and be this close, on my first time here, I think tomorrow could be good. I have qualified worse than this and still finished in the top ten.”
