Factory Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo is still struggling with the new spec of Bridgestone tyre and found himself a second slower than Dani Pedrosa over their respective fastest laps.
Yesterday, Lorenzo slated the new rubber, saying it didn’t give him any confidence anywhere and it would appear that even after another day’s setup work and the track rubbering in, not a lot has changed as his quickest time is only a tenth faster than yetsterday, whereas team-mate Valentino Rossi has improved by three-quarters of a second.
Yesterday, Lorenzo was pretty scathing over the tyre peformance, saying: “The new rear tyres, both the soft and the hard, are not working properly on our M1. We tried many things but for the moment we haven’t found any solutions. Tomorrow we are going to try something different with the electronics that worked last year to try to improve a little bit because we are not so good today.
“The tyres don't give me any confidence in the corner entry, in the middle of the corner and on acceleration. It seems Bridgestone will not be providing different tyres this year so we have to adapt to the situation.”
Today was no better, with the Spaniard saying: “Today I am very disappointed, especially in the tyre behaviour. Nothing has changed compared to yesterday. I still don't have the confidence to ride as I want to. Tomorrow is another day, we still have eight hours to find the right way so we will work hard and hopefully by the end of tomorrow we will have solutions.”
