Britain’s Scott Redding says that he wouldn’t be averse to switching back to his MarcVDS team if they were to take over the MotoGP RC213V which looks likely to be vacated by Gresini Racing at the end of the year.
Redding is currently contracted to stay with Gresini for another year but wants to be on a works bike. It is not clear yet whether Gresini will keep the satellite Honda and Redding’s priority is to ride a works bike in 2015.
“We are still waiting to see what we can get together. My priority is to say here with Gresini with the factory bike but at the moment, things are stalled a little bit so we have to wait to see what comes through this weekend,” said Redding, speaking at Silverstone.
“The main priority is to be on a factory Honda. Definitely not an open bike as that is the wrong way for me. I just want to have the best bike to get results. I go racing to fight and be on the podium, not make up numbers. We need to find the right bike next year to get the results.
“I wouldn’t want to leave this team as I have a two-year contract but whatever the issue is, if they can’t make it stand up, I have to move on. If the bike is with VDS then even better but for the moment, nothing is secure.”
Redding is also on the Pramac Ducati shopping list and says he would consider it but would prefer to be on a bike that runs Factory rules.
“Of course, I have got to consider it but those guys are running their own rules. Maybe if they were getting the results on the same rules as the factory guys then I would consider it a lot more but we have to see what other options we have.
“It’s one thing knowing they want me and I think I maybe do have the style for the bike as I am tall and strong but you don’t know until you ride it.”
