Marlboro Ducati's Valentino has identified a lack of corner entry speed and not being able to hold the line he wants as the reasons for only qualifying in 13th place for tomorrow's British MotoGP round at Silverstone.
And The Doctor isn't even doing a rain dance as he says he isn't as fast in the wet as he was in Jerex or Estoril. Rossi has said he cannot get his Desmosedici to go where he wants and expects a very tough day tomorrow.
"It is a very difficult day for us for sure and probably the worst weekend from the beginning of the season until now. I expect here in Silverstone with a new track I struggle more than in the last races but this time we struggle very very much," said the nine-time world champion.
"We try a lot of different things in the setting but I am always very very slow and I'm not able to ride like I want to to make my lines. Where I lose most is in the entry of the corner this is where I am most slow. I am not able to brake and carry enough speed in the corners, it's not a question of the track's bumps. If I try to push, I cannot stay on the line.
"It is a little bit about feeling but more that I can't go where I want with the bike so I am not able to do the good lines for the sequence of the corner so we lost very much in the fast ones I think. We have something else to try for tomorrow but I don't think it is the answer to fix all our problems.
"Tomorrow will be very hard I think but we wait for the forecast to see if it will be wet then we can stay a bit closer to the others but it will not be like in Barcelona or Jerez where under the rain we were very fast. Here it is a little bit less so."
