MotoGP looks set to lose the Sachsenring round after owners ADAC said today they could no longer afford to lose half a million quid on staging the race like they did this year.
An increase in the sanctioning fee by owners Dorna has put the final nail in the camel's back for Germany's version of the AA. Where the round will end up next year is anyone's guess - favourite will be the F1-friendly Nurburgring but it could move elsewhere in Europe. Except for Portimao, as they can't afford lunch, let alone the cost of running a GP.
However, on the upside it looks like Argentina's Las Termas de Rio Hondo track could join the calendar from 2013 alongside The Circuit of the Americas - or Austin as it will become known whether they like it or not.
Bosses from the Argie track are in France right now, according to the stout chaps at motomatters.com, signing contracts for the Dakar and could well be having their trousers pulled down by Carmelo Ezpeleta at the same time.
